Join our award-winning volunteer team to help make a difference in your community and use your talents to help others. Volunteering at Gorton Central is great for meeting like-minded people, learning new skills, and getting valuable work experience. Whether you are available a few hours a month or more regularly during the week, we have a role for you.
What to expect:
Many volunteers have been with us for 3 years and more. Let’s hear from a few of them to see why:
Joan:
“I enjoy helping people, being a part of what’s going on in the community centre and meeting new people. I started as a Community Grocers as a volunteer then got involved in helping out with the Age Friendly drop in, the Citizens Advice drop in, and helping with events and promoting the centres activities. It’s led me to being on the Manchester Age Friendly board. I’ve done an accredited course and two years ago I won a volunteer community award. I’m now at a point where I tell people I know in the community about what’s going on at the centre and how they meet other and get help. I feel stronger and more confident.”

Lee:
“I find volunteering rewarding because what I am doing is going towards helping people. It’s a two-way thing for me, I get enjoyment from it because I want to help people but also it helps me and gives me a purpose. There’s lots of courses on offer to better your skills such as Food Safety and Mental Health First Aid. I enjoy the social side when we go out together. I feel like we get to know each other so it’s like a bonding thing when we all go out for meals together – everyone can be themselves.”
We have a variety of volunteering roles available, including but not limited to:
